Safety Analysis in the Process Industry
An e-Course designed to train any level or category of personnel involved in Process Hazard Analysis (PHA) in the Process Industry.
Process safety is a disciplined framework for managing the integrity of operating systems and processes that handle hazardous substances. It deals with the prevention and control of events that have the potential to release hazardous materials and energy, whereas occupational safety generally refers to classic health and safety, normally associated with the prevention of trips, slips, and falls.
A PHA or Process Hazard Analysis
Identify the hazard by carrying out a workplace risk assessment; determine how employees might be at risk; evaluate the risks; record and review hazards at least annually (every five years legally) or earlier if something changes especially for new facilities, redesigned or modified facilities. Evaluate and record the potential hazards. This is called a Process Hazard Analysis or PHA. It can be a formal HAZOP or What-If meeting. Both will be explained in Lesson 7.
This e-learning course will enable a participant to become a very valuable member of any PHA team – a skill that is becoming more important as Process Industries become more complex and hazardous.
